Ben Tunnicliffe – Sennen Cove
The GCG was excited to hear that talented Ben Tunnicliffe, of The Tolcarne Inn, Newlyn, was taking his culinary know-how to Sennen Cove. We were even more excited to receive an invite to his opening night! The contemporary hub was a beacon on a crisp March eve – and we stepped into a warm, jazz-filled joint full of bustling deliciousness.

Seafood, Sensational Views, Salty Seadogs
Right on the beachfront in Sennen, the location is perfect. Ben’s food was undoubtedly moreish and tasty. JT and I feasted on tempura seafood, Newlyn crab and vino followed by the most succulent monkfish I’ve ever had and a righteous-looking ling burger and chips.
As coastal dictates, the menu naturally focuses on seafood. Dishes include; Breaded Squid, Mussels steamed with Smoked Bacon and Thyme, and Fish Soup, while a small daily specials board gives the brigade of chefs an opportunity to showcase the freshest fish landed at Newlyn and Sennen. However, for meat-lovers/ veggies there is a great selection of lush-looking alterternatives.
The place is choc-full of Ben’s personality, from food to interiors: ie super cool. The walls are decked with Newlyn School of Art pieces, surfboards are propped against the wooden pillars and mountain bikes are casually chilling out on the beams.
The new restaurant is family-friendly and dog-friendly be you covered in sand or salt water! The team are open daily for breakfast, lunch and supper.
