Boozy bangers, seriously good snags and farm shops
Wheal Rose, Scorrier
I love sausages, but I’m pretty fussy – good meat content and quality and they have to pack a lot of taste. I like snags in a sanger, hot from the frying pan dunked into fried eggs, cold and stolen from the fridge late evening and best of all when they make like toads in the hole. So I was delighted when Etherington’s – my local butcher- came up with the Tipsy Trio.
The business prides itself on sourcing great quality pork from homegrown piggies and rare breed animals in Cornwall – all sold in their fabulous farm shop. But how did they fare on the plate? I (read JT) grilled the snags and bar the one I pinched and ate on the hoof, they and cheesy mash were snaffled up with gusto.
The ale in the sausages is from St Austell Brewery’s award-winning cellar picking a robust 1913 stout, Proper Job and Admiral Ale. Get your trotters to Etherington’s farm shop in Scorrier to bag the boozy bangers and fill your hamper with fine meats and veg – or pub crawl to any of the Brewery’s pubs for a meaty feast.
