Fat Hen Foraging 2015

Fat Hen is officially Cornwall’s only dedicated Wild Food Cookery School. Combining the diverse abundance of wild Cornish fodder with a cool place to cook up the foraged goodies (and devour them); getting yourself booked onto a course with Caroline seems like a mighty fine idea for 2015.

Caroline Davey – top of the Fat Hen pecking order – has been a wild pioneer for over six years, launching foraging and wild cookery courses to get our hunter gatherer juices flowing. Excitingly, she’s expanded her offering to include specialist wild food courses in fish, game, seaweed and wild Italian cookery. The courses are completely hands-on, from fun foraging & cooking club for Little GCGers, cycling foraging routes, and gourmet wild food weekends.

Caroline has teamed up with Mark Devonshire, formerly head tutor of Rick Stein’s Seafood Cookery School, who will teach the students on Gourmet Foraging Weekends, Fish & Shellfish Cookery, Game Cookery and Bread-Making courses.  Anything you can forage, hunt or fish from Cornwall will be showcased at Fat Hen. The courses are aimed at re-connecting people to the land and reducing the journey from soil to plate as well as being a foodie indulgence!  Fat Hen is all about gastronomic satisfaction and making the most of the wild harvest.

Caroline describes it as an ‘expansion of the senses’ not a survivalist endurance experience’ (no Bear Grylls…)
