You know when you hear on the Cornish grapevine someone has created a Bourbon and Cornflake ice-cream that you have to seek them out and sample their innovative culinary creation.

Lazy Jacks Kitchen, 4a Webb Street, Fowey
Lazy Jacks in Fowey, owned by the marvellous Mike Redmond, is the home to such exciting dessert based flavour combinations. The brainchild of Mike, who also has the Lifebuoy Café (another foodie delight in Fowey) was opened because of his passion for the coast – and also to escape the London rat race for a hectic life in Cornwall.
Their Moomaid of Zennor ice-cream creations are just the start; Lazy Jacks make LJK three cheese Toasties with three different types of cheese with onion and garlic, they are v v good… they also sell fresh sarnies made to order with crab from Fowey Fish a favourite. Mike, though unperturbed as I devour a sea salt caramel ice-cream in far-too-gluttonous-to-be-polite fashion, is truly ahead of the game with fantastic new flavour idea and an eye for super cool interiors too.
I would hasten to add, though sat slightly lobster-like from the gorgeous sunshine that this ice-cream (and those pasties too) are not just for the fine weather. Though mixing and matching the scoops before heading to the harbour front in Fowey to watch the dolphins could in fact be equated to bliss. There is nothing quite like an ice-cream, especially one this delicious whatever the weather. Don’t just take my word for it, visit Lazy Jacks and let me know your verdict…
Oh and of the Bourbon & Cornflake variation: It’s very boozy and an ideal ice-cream for breakfast… Or anytime.
