Love Yoga Cornwall
Yoga is the ‘in’ way to detox, making you super flexible (and thus super sex-ible); in fact it has been infiltrating my subconscious for quite a while now – through s’leb advocates, magazines and even (dare I say it) my mother. Now, in spite of my inescapable fear that I am slowly turning into my mother –the utter horror- I am keen to jump on the yoga converts bandwagon.
The gorgeous Gemma Ford of Love Yoga Cornwall answered my ‘make me bendy’ cries and, along with the lovely girls from Finisterre (eager to join to road test their new women’s yoga range), I embarked on my yogic journey; in my own office no less. (Proving that there is no excuse, Gemma brings yoga to you anywhere). The scene was set, invigorating incense a-burning, tantric music on the iPod docking system and a very friendly teacher; culminating in a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere.
Safety and wellbeing conscious, Gemma started the sesh by finding out our yogic experience, as well as any ‘body restrictions’ – let’s not even go there! Bring on the sun salutations and core work – hello fabulous body. Taking us through a series of poses and stretches, all restorative and fat burning, but nothing too hard core, I felt like I had done a work out, without the sweaty Betty gush. Gemma was super keen to make us feel like we had achieved despite some stances resulting in laughter as I collapse in the middle of my shoulder-stand… not particularly Wonder Womanesque!
Gemma has lots of LYC packages on offer, catering for yoga wannabes or expertees alike. Truly believing, and making it her mission, to get Love Yoga Cornwall out to everyone, she can team you up with your perfect yoga teacher – a yoga dating site without the worry of out-of-date photos! She tailors bespoke sessions to her clients’ needs and specific requirements; from hard core ‘Geri Haliwell skinny’ yoga sessions, to sleep inducing relaxation classes, there is something for everyone. With her little aftercare package you can take a bit of yoga home with you. She helpfully left us with class notes. The girls and I had a fab time and finished off our sesh with fitness women tea – cleansing, refreshing and a good chance to have a gossip about Gemma herself…
Gemma started doing yoga at school, well the choice was between yoga and board games so go figure, and just became fascinated. After living the London life for a while she jetted off to India to train at the epicentre of all things yogic. Upon her return to the Big Smoke, she did the only sensible thing a girl could do, she moved to Cornwall and set about invigorating the locals and holiday makers alike. She is currently setting up loveyogaonline.co.uk, a yoga site where you can buy into online teaching and support from tried, tested and qualified yoga teachers; making flexible and sex-ible seem blissfully achievable…
A session – usually 1 hr30 – is £40. She specialises in one on one, one on two and small group sessions, enabling the most attention to her bespoke service. Find her at www.loveyogacornwall.co.uk, or speak to her directly at gemma@loveyogacornwall.co.uk 07947 647697.
Look out Gwynnie Paltrow, because here I come!
