Polgoon 2013 Vintage
Ah, English wine week. It’s been the perfect excuse to have a mid-week tipple in fabulous sunshine. At the GCG office we’re ready for a taste of the new 2013 vintage from Polgoon, Cornish makers of delectable wines and thirst-quenching ciders.

Polgoon Vineyard & Orchard,
Family-run and extremely passionate about what they do, they’re based just moments away in Penzance with stockists all over Cornwall and beyond.
After a few unfortunate seasons with very little fruit to work with, 2013 saw the grapes return with a vengeance, making it quite the productive year. The Polgoon red is smooth and well-balanced, and went down a treat at the first River Cottage Food Fair last weekend. A single variety Rondo, it is already on the shelves and available to buy. On the way are three whites, one made with a Madeleine Angevine grape, another a Seyval and Ortega blend, and finally a Seyval and Bacchus blend. If you like your wine pink, try the single variety Rondo Polgoon rosé, and for fizz fans a real treat – their first sparkling white, an Orion and Seyval Blanc blend from 2012.
If you fancy more than just a glassful, you can book yourself on a tour of the vineyard and cider orchard and see where the magic happens. With tasting opportunities abound, it just got bumped to the top of my ‘to do’ list. Cheers!
