Sunday Lunch at Scarlet Wines
Sunday is a rather special day in the week. A day of obligatory lie-ins, cups of tea in bed watching the Andrew Marr Show, log fires and Sunday lunch. I was utterly, gluttonously and wonderfully jammy to spend one such Sunday lunch at Scarlet Wines, Lelant for a rather epic foodie spread.

Scarlet Wines, if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of discovering it, is a super cute deli, restaurant, artisan wine-seller and all-round cosy winter venue near to St Ives. Now that winter is here the team at Scarlet Wines has got the fire roaring and started up their infamous Sunday lunch menu.
Serving a different meat each week, I lucked upon roast pork day: my favourite. The pork was lush, with plenty of crackling, perfect roasties and creamy leeks. CREAMY LEEKS!!! There were, of course, locally sourced veggies and delicious cider gravy. The big roast dish also came with roasted apple too which added a lip-lickingly sweet note to the dish. Yum. I didn’t think anyone could beat one of JT’s roasts, but hats off to Scarlet Wines who take the ‘Best Sunday Roast’ trophy.
If you have room (and I usually do) for dessert I implore you to try the spiced apple, blackberry and Chantilly meringue sandwich which included mulled fruits, Chantilly cream and a pleasing stack of crunchy, chewy meringues. Follow with a big glass of port = perfect Sunday. 2 courses are £17 and 3 courses are £22.
Scarlet Wines is owned by a lovely chap called Jon Keast and he has seriously got the recipe right for gorgeous Sundays: 2 courses are £17 and 3 courses are £22 and Sunday lunch is served from 12 – 7pm.
