The Secret Garden – Tregothnan opens it’s private gates.
Tregothnan Estate: home of tea and the Smugglers’ on the Roseland is sending out the Golden Tickets and opening its private gates like Willy Wonker’s Chocolate Factory on the 14th & 15th April to their magical historical gardens.
The private gardens are firmly shut to the curious public
throughout the year but will open up their historic garden – the largest in
Cornwall for chairty. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s ‘Three Hungry Boys’ Tim,
Thom and Trev will be opening the event after they discovered Tregothnan last
year on their quest.
Now, I know nothing about plants except I cannot keep them
alive (even a cactus – which is severely disappointing) but I do love tea. As
the only tea plantation in England this is surely worth a visit. Tregothnan are
a safe sanctuary for rare, endangered and exotic plants.
Raising money for The Crisis Fund & Cornwall Federation
of Young farmers’ Clubs there will be tea tastings, cream teas & lunches
kicking about. There will also be live music and a classic car display – a bit
Driving Miss Daisy perhaps?
Early bird tickets are £6.50 or £7 on the day with children
& dogs of leads free. Venture down to the secret garden and see what magic
you can unearth…
